Coming Together

Yes, finally I have been busy stitching and have got the patchwork top for this comforter that I am working on.

I had then all out on the floor of my craft room, and spent several hours arranging and re-arranging, and re-arranging again all 140 squares that make up this topper.

For the first time I put it together using my overlocker - how quick was that? I am quite pleased with the way they came up considering I had no idea how these squares that I had been given would work out.

Then yesterday I took myself off to a 'quilt shop' that is at the back of this lady's house and (thankfully) not all that far from home. You see, over the years quite a number of specialist quilting and patchwork shops have opened and subsequently closed, leaving us with very little or no choice but to travel around 70 kms each way if you want to purchase something that little bit special for a project you are working on. Anyway, managed to get some fabric for the border and the binding of my comforter - now to get in and get it done. The lady who owns this little 'hidden gem' is really lovely, a wealth of knowledge and because no one else is around was able to spend plenty of 'one on one' time with you sorting out what your requirements were.  Found out she is extra special because her name is the same as mine, although around the other way - confused? OK, my name is June Lynette and her name is Lynnette June - what are the odds of that?

I am also playing around with a notebook/cover I was given as a Christmas gift and I would like to make some myself, very cute and so very practical, even comes with a pocket for a pen on the front.

For now though, it's time to get back to my sewing machine....
