A Repair Job Finally Done

Back in 2016 we did a trip with some friends from east to west, coast to coast, across our great country and on stopping off in the centre at Uluru/Ayers Rock for a visit, I purchased a hat that took my fancy. The reason was that here in Australia, particularly in our outback, is that there are lots and lots of flies. So to find a hat with flies all over it was what was needed.

The only problem was that it was 'one size fits all'! Well, for me, 'one size fits all' does not fit.

So finally a few weeks ago, I began to unpick it.

This was quite a task as it was fully lined, however not to be deterred, I got it all apart and then came the job of trying to make it the right size for me.

After a couple of false starts, I was able to get a very good fit.

Now I will be able to 'look the part' with the flies when we start off on our next adventure later in the year. We will have 2 other couples travelling with us who have not ventured to the outback before. Think we will have a great trip.

However, there is more stitching to be done before then. Oh, and putting everything back into our caravan!

All for now, take care and look after yourselves,

The Tea Room Diaries #2

Today - Valentine's Day, my next letter arrived from The Tea Room Diaries that I have subscribed to this year.

These wonderful letters arrive once a month and tell the story of a young lady who has arrived in Melbourne from Cornwall in 1922 through diary entries penned in letter form.

This letter was all about Doris, who runs her brothers stationery shop in an arcade in Melbourne, receiving a small posy of pink roses from an anonymous admirer.

How wonderful to have your mail posted from a post box at Kilmore in Victoria that was around in 1880.

I had a lovely time sitting down with a lovely cup of tea and reading my letter this afternoon.

All for now,

June

Woo Hoo, our caravan is back home!

Yes after 3 1/2 months in at the repairers for hail damage, we finally were able to pick up our caravan today.

After going over it with the guys and making sure everything was as it should be, it was time to hook it up and bring her home.

Now comes the task of putting everything back into the van (won't happen overnight, but it will happen), although not everything will make it, time to do that cull! Thankfully we will then have our 3rd bedroom back as this is where everything from the van was placed while it was in for repair.

All for now,

The Bears Are Back in Town

It has been quite a while since I made any of the Kindness Bears that I was making several years ago, however today I not only made one of these bears for the leader of our Sewing Circle Group who is in the fight of her life with lung cancer .......

I also made another bear that I have not made before, and hope to make a number of them to take on our next caravan trip to give to the people of the RFDS and Ambos out through Western Queensland later in the year.

This little guy is made from the 'Teds in Beds' pattern by Two Brown Birds - Fiona Tully.

It has been very good to be back making what I love - my bears, and am looking forward to making more as the year goes forward. Think I might just go and cut out some more bears.

For now though, the bears are calling ..... look after yourselves and take care
