Production Line in Progress

 Hi Everyone,

Time to bring you up to date on what I have been making this last month. Some time last year a couple of ladies at our Tuesday Sewing Group had a little fold up (OK they twist) thread bins - a little bin to put your thread scraps when you are stitching. They are so cute and looked easy enough to make. 

As we all do, checked in with Mr Google and printed off some instructions to make myself a little thread bin. Well .....  I couldn't make head nor tale of these - it sounded so complicated.

Next time at my Sewing Circle Group, asked one lady if I could borrow hers for the week and try and work it out myself. Oh my goodness how easy are they to make!

So much so, I made three of them - two of them are for a couple of friends.

AND what makes these so unusual is that the top band is actually an egg ring, yes you read that right and a piece of cardboard or plastic is in the bottom.  They are made from scraps, so it uses up sosme of your scrap stash too. To fold them up at the end of your stitching session is that you twist the whole thing and it keeps your thread bits inside and not fall all over your basket or whatever you use to hold your stitching. Could also be used for knitting and/or crocheting ends too.

Don't they look cute, the base actually tucks up under the egg ring.

Now yesterday I went to my other sewing group with mine and everyone wanted one. I have a month before we meet again, so I think I may be making some of these to take with me. 

To add to this, Peter (hubby) is having a stall for his woodwork at the beginning of May and suggested I make some of these for him to sell. 

He has also 'turned' some tape measure cases where the tape measure is encased and you wind it in with the knob on top. Again it is something I bought for myself many years ago and he decided to have a go at making them.

For now though, I guess I had best head to my 'She Shed' and dig out some more of my scrap fabrics.
