My Needle Is Working Overtime

Like everyone else at the moment we are all filling in our time with either cleaning up our craft rooms - now that is really not an option as I see, you would not be able to find anything, or you are busy stitching, and today I finished the stitching component of yet another of my mini quilt blocks. This is another for my teddy bear set.

The borders are yet to be attached and another two completed for this set. Then to complete my 'Uniquely Oz' set, and  ...... I will have completed 7 sets of 4 making 28 mini quilts all up.

Sadly, by only doing part bits & pieces I don't have any finishes for this month, hopefully next month I will have this set of mini quilts completed.

Time to sign off for the night, and settle down for the night.

ANZAC Block Done

As you may recall a few weeks ago I made a terrible mistake in making this block - too much of a hurry to get it done for ANZAC Day, and wasn't concentrating, but I sat and unpicked it and was able to salvage the borders and redo the block - think it looks OK, and although it is just pinned in place for the moment, when I finish the rest of the 'Uniquely OZ' set, it shall take it's rightful place.

To all the veterans from all theatres of war and the remaining defence personnel that support them, we salute you all, and thank you for your service.

Been a Little Busy

With not a lot to do around here, like everywhere else we are staying home and this means lots more time for stitching. So ....  I got out the fat 1/8's pack I purchased last month and started making some blocks for a comforter that I had in mind.

Was going really great with my chopping and sewing and ended up with 20 x 9" squares.

When I then set them out on the pinky/red fleece I decided that it was just too bright for the pretty pink blocks, so will have to wait 'til I can get to the shops to pick something else for the backing.

Ah, well lots more to do, including making a start on another set of my mini quilt blocks - I only have two more sets to complete, so they are called 'Uniquely Oz' and (goes without saying) Bears.

Here is a photo of the stitchery for the first of my bear blocks, it is a pattern from Teddlywinks that I picked up in Mackay Qld late last year. Got some pretty fabrics to finish it off too.

Thing that's all for now, so everyone look after yourselves and keep safe.

Hubby in His Hideaway

Thought today I would show you what hubby has been up to over the last few days down in his newly cleaned up shed.

Yep he has been making more mess! Having said that it is for a good cause - me! Sort of ......

He started out with a block of wood and turned it into this very cute bowl for me to put some little nick-nacks on my side table beside my lounge chair.

Now talking of my lounge chair - a recliner, I sometimes prefer to sit up so my back is straighter, however when doing this my feet don't touch the floor - yes, I am vertically challenged with short legs, hubby also made me a little stool to put in front of my recliner so I can put my feet on it.

I am really stoked with this and he has made it just the right height for me - makes sitting in my chair stitching very comfortable.

I have also been working on a couple of projects myself too but have yet to take some photos - next time.

For now, take care and stay safe.

Easter Time at Home

Goodness me, how different is Easter this year? It almost seems unreal and not quite right, which of course is true. However, both hubby & I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter and a peaceful day as best as you can.

Look after yourselves and keep safe.

Time to Walk Away

It seems I am just going to have to take some time out from my sewing/stitching for a few days - you see I have made a very big monumental mistake, and it is one that I just cannot leave. I have always believed that as none of us are perfect, a little mistake can be accepted, but not this one.

I have spent the last three days stitching this block for another of my mini quilt series, and have thoroughly enjoyed getting this one ready to reveal on ANZAC Day, however sadly that has just flown out the window, as the saying goes. This morning I came into my craft room, and set about trimming, cutting and machine sewing the strips with the conflicts on them around the centre block, only to realise (after I had finished them and pressed them down) that two of the strips are in the wrong place. The one on the top should be on the right hand side and the one on the right hand side should be at the top, so as the conflicts are in their right order.

It is so crushing to think that I have done such a bad, bad error. Of course it doesn't help that I am married to a veteran and of course he knows without doubt the order of the conflicts that Australia has been involved in - as do I, but I just picked up the wrong strip, and as they are cut to fit, and I have no more of that charcoal grey fabric, I will have to take the whole lot off and redo them.

Think I will go and read some of my book - can't really mess that up can I?

Maybe Not Sew Hard a Time

I was sent the following yesterday and it really brought a smile to my face, so thought I would share it with you all.

I trust this finds everyone well - take care of yourselves and keep safe.
